A Reflection on History Post (Insert the Date)
I don’t know where to start.
Hyperbole has Paris burning.
There is the typical clamor for revenge.
We now have justification for the use of power
The sustenance for the status quo
All preceded by the death of a treacherous terrorist
With braggadocio and hubris a soldier claims the spoil
The cycle is obvious.
We claim unity with the victim.
We are appalled by the assailant.
The cycle is obvious.
More weapons are needed
More violence unheeded
More graphic
More horrific
That will teach them
The cycle is obvious
We become the oppressor
We identify the aggressor
The cycle is obvious
We commit blood and treasure
This cannot happen again
Never
A pulse of revenge
The tar that embalms
We kill one another
We claim not a brother
Decade after decade
Century after century
Millennia after millennia
The Cycle is obvious
The cheek goes unturned
Even though we were warned
The cycle is obvious
The oppressed seek to oppress
As justification for action
The oppressor panics accordingly
More is created
More is lost
The hate is embossed
The Cycle is obvious
Some worship a Son
His message un-won
Institutionally enraptured
A populous continuously captured
Groundhogs twelve months of the year
Again and again
Eternally
Three hundred and sixty five
The Cycle is obvious
We disclaim unapologetically
We encircle to protect
We use wealth to continue harm
The misleading charms
For everyone
The unintended
The Cycle is obvious
This perpetual burn
This thoughtless revenge
Neglecting perpetual human longing
No chance for repose
Is the Cycle not obvious?
